What London looks like

To a new student.

London is the world's most international university city. Your child will not be the only person from their country. But the city is also large, expensive, and complicated to navigate in the first week.

Buses and the tube run everywhere — but the Oyster card vs contactless decision, the night-bus rules, and which lines are reliable take time to learn. The cultural-food supermarkets (Chinatown, Wembley, Brixton, Tooting) are specific to each community, and not where your child's nearest Tesco is.

What they'll need help with most: which bus actually goes to their campus, opening a bank account that doesn't require six weeks of utility bills, finding the supermarket that stocks the food they want — and one person who becomes a friendly face afterwards.

Hosts in London

Vetted, named, photographed.

We have a small founding cohort of vetted GSOS hosts in London for September 2026 — speaking Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Yoruba, Igbo, and English. As we recruit more, we add them here.
