University international offices help once classes start. Fresher's week is when most students arrive. But many international students arrive a week earlier — and there's no formal support during that gap. GSOS exists for that week.

Confidence helps. Knowing where the bus stops, how to open a bank account in a foreign country, and what to do when their SIM card doesn't work — that's logistics, not personality. Even the most extroverted student doesn't avoid the logistics.

We need at least 14 days to assign a vetted host. Anything less, we may not be able to deliver.

Current students at UK universities, mostly in their second year or beyond. We vet every host before they meet a single student.

A basic DBS check, two references (one academic, one personal), a video interview with us, and a trial run where a GSOS team member shadows their first booking.

We match on language and culture wherever possible. For Year 1 we have hosts who speak Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Yoruba, and Igbo. If we can't match your exact language we tell you, and offer a fallback — usually a same-region host who has themselves been the new arrival in the UK.

You see their photo and bio after booking — within 48 hours. We don't assign before booking because hosts are matched against your specific city, date, and language.

Yes — this is included in Tailored. For Welcome and Settle, ask and we'll usually accommodate.

Your host has passed a DBS check, reference checks, an interview, and a trial run shadowed by us. Their identity is verified. You see their photo and bio. We track their location during the booking. It's the most-vetted way to hand your child off to a stranger.

We have public liability and professional indemnity insurance on every booking. We have a 24/7 emergency contact line during your child's GSOS days. Hosts are trained to escalate to GSOS within minutes if anything is off.

We have a backup host on call for every booking in London and Manchester. If your host can't deliver, the backup steps in within an hour.

At booking, after we've confirmed host availability for your child's city and date.

You're charged in your local currency at the day's mid-market rate. The price you see in GBP is what we receive.

100% refund if you cancel 14 days or more before your child's arrival. 50% refund 7–13 days before. Inside 7 days, no refund — unless we cannot deliver, in which case we refund in full.
