Terms of Service.
The contract between you and GSOS when you book our welcome service.

1. About these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form the contract between you (the parent or guardian booking the service) and Global Students Orientation Services Limited ("GSOS", "we", "us") when you book any GSOS package.
GSOS is a company registered in England and Wales with company number 17208774. Our trading domain is gsos.co.uk.
By booking, you confirm you are over 18, have the authority to book on behalf of the named student, and agree to be bound by these Terms.
2. The service
GSOS provides a paid welcome and orientation service for international university students arriving in the United Kingdom. For the September 2026 intake, the service is available in London and Manchester.
We offer three packages: Welcome (£649), Settle (£1,199), and Tailored (from £1,799). Each package is described in detail on our website. Each booking pairs the student with a vetted current UK university student ("Host") who provides in-person support following arrival.
Where possible, we match the student with a Host who shares a relevant language or cultural background. Current Host languages include Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Yoruba, Igbo, and English.
Our role is to introduce, brief, and supervise the Host. We are not the Host's employer; Hosts are independent contractors who work with GSOS on a per-booking basis. We do not provide academic advice, visa advice, medical advice, financial advice, or legal advice. We are not a guardian under the UK Children Act for any student under 18.
3. Booking and confirmation
Booking begins with an enquiry submitted through our website or by email. We confirm Host availability for your dates and city, then send a Stripe payment link. Your booking is confirmed when payment is received and we send written confirmation.
We need a minimum of 14 days between booking confirmation and the student's arrival to vet and brief the Host. Bookings made with less than 14 days notice may be declined.
4. Payment
All bookings are paid in full at the point of confirmation. Payments are processed via Stripe. Prices on our website are quoted in pounds sterling (GBP).
5. Cancellation and refunds
- 14 days or more before arrival: 100% refund.
- Less than 14 days before arrival: 50% refund, as your Host's time and preparation are already reserved.
- If GSOS is unable to deliver the service for any reason (Host illness without an available backup, force majeure, etc.) we refund in full regardless of timing.
Refunds are processed via Stripe within 5–10 working days and returned to the original payment method.
6. The Host
Every Host is background-checked (basic DBS), reference-checked (one academic, one personal), interviewed by GSOS, and either trained or shadowed on their first booking. You will receive your assigned Host's photo and short bio within 48 hours of booking confirmation.
Hosts are independent contractors. They are not employees, agents, or partners of GSOS. GSOS supervises and pays the Host, but the Host is responsible for the manner in which they deliver the service within the parameters of the booking brief.
7. Your obligations
You agree to:
- Provide accurate flight, accommodation, and contact details, and update us promptly if any change.
- Provide accurate information about the student, including age, any relevant medical or dietary needs, and any safeguarding considerations.
- Obtain consent from the student (and, where applicable, the second parent or guardian) before booking on their behalf.
- Respond to communications from your Host and from GSOS in a timely manner during the booking window.
8. Photo and media consent
At booking we ask whether you consent to GSOS taking photographs of the student during the service, for the purpose of arrival-day milestone messages and (with separate consent) for marketing materials. You may decline either or both forms of consent without affecting the service.
9. Our liability
Subject to applicable law, our total liability to you in connection with any booking is limited to the amount you paid for that booking, except in cases of death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
We are not liable for the acts or omissions of third parties (airlines, banks, universities, accommodation providers, transport providers) outside our reasonable control.
10. Force majeure
Neither party is liable for failure to perform these Terms where caused by events outside reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, war, civil unrest, government action, transport disruption, or failure of utilities. Where such an event prevents us from delivering the service, we refund in full.
11. Termination
Either party may terminate a booking before service delivery in accordance with the cancellation policy in section 5. GSOS may terminate immediately if the student, you, or any other party behaves in a way that is unsafe, illegal, abusive, or materially breaches these Terms — in which case no refund is owed.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version that applies to your booking is the version published on this page at the date you confirmed your booking. Material changes will not apply retroactively to existing bookings.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from or connected to these Terms.
